1.4RT to 16v Engone Swap?

  172
Hey up anyone know a garage or person that can do this this? Rung my local monkey garage up, but they said there were too many electrics to swap around? im wanting a 19 engine in my 1.4clio. I'll buy a cheap 19 with a decent engine...

What's the estimated cost?

Any help appreciated!

thanks.

I think it's a bit of a bugger to do the conversion by all accounts mate. Have you considered either a 5gtt conversion or a volvo turbo engine (not entirely sure of which volvo engine it is) as there are a few on the site who have done those conversions.

Also, you might get more responses if you were to put this post in the exterior, power etc bit - or maybe a nice mod would do it for you. ;)

ahh right cheers mate, sorry.

Is that because the gtt is a carb? I know they are quite expensive to buy arn't they? With decent engines too.

Never heard of the volvo swap though?

Mole and a few others on the forum have done the volvo conversion. I'm sure some of them will be able to help you out and will probably reply if they see this post.

I'm not sure of the technical details of which is easier etc I'm just going by what I have read on the forum previously. What a lot of people seem to do for the gtt conversion is to get a rear ended 5gtt and use that as you will get EVERYTHING you need from it pretty much.

bump, is it much easier to fit thr 5 gtt then? What is it a case of? Engine, brakes and driveshafts?

thanks.

Speak to Jon @ torsion tuning about the conversion, my old 16v engine went into a 1.4 think the labour charge was around £400 - £500 his number is 07949200705 :) Even if you dont want him to do the actual conversion I am sure he will offer advice on the conversion options :)

what a nice guy. He'll do it for £500, buget at £1000 though as he says the engines are old so may need some extra tlc.

My main problem is i'm in Sheffield and he's in Essex!

had mine done at a local garage.with the engine, new drive shafts, alternator, wiring loom and ecu, radiator and fan and fitting, cost just over £1000.Money well spent tho.garage is in wales if thats any good to ya.

cool, but did you have to supply the engine? That's my biggest concern at the moment. I wouldn't mind if they had it all there because i could get a b+b or something while it was happening!

Did that include the brake assembly aswell though?
