cool, i like a bit of dirt, suits it!

silver takes more time to build up though i think, with mine if i do a 2 miles trip down a country road after i've cleaned it and its dried fully, its noticable dirty and doesnt look like ive cleaned it at all!

right so if i was to just buy a 1.6 16v mark 1 but not the rsi version i cud do stuff to it to make it look like the rsi, would it be any cheaper on insurance?

they are identical other than the interior and the alloy bonnet as far as i know. (and different alloys as std, but they both stink anyway)

No, they are both group 10 insurance.

i pay 680 fc on my ph1 1.6 16v all mods declared (i'm 23 wi 3yrs ncb)

I have a pearl black 1.6 16v RSi. I'm really please with mine it's done about 18,000 miles since I bought it a year ago. Tbh there is little to differentiate my car from any other 1.6 16v when looking at the outside except the badges and the wheels (although some non rsi models even have these wheels)
It's not untill you lift the lightweight alloy bonnet that you can actually tell it's alloy, the interior is half blue leather with a leather steeing wheel. Taking into account those differences I'd be surprised if the insurance was much higher but imho if you are getting quotes for £3k I'd wait a couple of years and stick with your current car rather than blow that sort of money the wait will seem all the more worth it. I'm holding back for 2 or 3 years before I shell out on a vee.

1.6 16v non rsi has a leather steering wheel too :)
and the badges look better saying only "16v" gives ppl doubt as to whats under the bonnet!

yeah as he said there's no difference etc, but..... my mk2 ph1 1.6 16v non Rsi has a light weight alloy bonnet, seems like there's no particular pattern to which cars had the lightweight bonnets. mine was manafactured late 1999 so that may be why.

think you'll find both the 16/Rsi have the same taurus wheels.

and yeah they are both group 10, well mine is anyway lol.

all mk2 ph1 1.6 16v have alloy bonnet, RSi have some but not all have it. Because it was cost to much money and for options
