10MP Casio Exilim Z1000 digicam faulty?

  GW RS200
Hi All,

Just bought a new 10MP Casio Exilim Z1000 digicam. Not impressed with the results. Have posted a pic online:

Look at the right hand side. Is this typical of digicams of this price range, this model, or have I got a faulty cam do you reckon?

Thanks!
Steve

Hi Steve,
If you are talking about the purple fringing, I'm afraid that the CCD is only 1/1.8 " (7.18 x 5.32mm) and with 10 million effective pixels I think at that price point it's just too many pixels for the size of the chip.
I have worked with Digital cams for over 10 years now so I know a little bit, the compact I use is the Panasonic FX9 - 6 Megapixels but the results are lovely.
Don't be drawn into more megapixels is better, I've had 3.2mp cams that have been brilliant, I like Panansonic because they own and use Leica lens with OIS Optical image stabiliser.
