16v Maxi vent

Right,

ive got a picture a williams/16v maxi rally car and as well as the OE vent it appears to have a second "l-shaped" vent at the passengers side front of the bonnet. Obviously its gonna be hard to get one of these but is there anything that looks similar that could be salvaged from another car?

I think someone with a red valver had one on here before but cant remember who it was....help!

thanks!

Yeah thats the quality Maxi vent. Ive never had a detailed engine bay schematic so cant tell whether its an intake or exhaust vent. Anyway the closest thing you will find off the shelf is an RGM Seat Cupra vent. Which I conveniently happen to have sitting in my garage brand new. Never used it because in the end I just louvred my bonnet instead.

This seems to be an exhaust vent. Thinking about the use of them in some Fords (ERST, FRST, escort cossie, etc).

The ones that are used as inlet are more like scoobies, pulsar etc ones.

Yes I suspected it may be an exhaust vent for the radiator. When I had to decide where to place my louvres in my bonnet, I had a similar problem to the Maxi Clio, a lot of heat to get rid of but a relatively complicated bonnet structure. My bonnet louvres ended up being in a similar position because the double skinned parts mean you cant really cut through where youd like to because youd lose strength.

Dont know what kind of inlet system the clio maxi has got but if it uses the std inlet manifold and plenum, then the vent is above the air filter/battery. this way there will be a flow of fresh air (even thou it might not be that fresh) passing throught.

Im pretty sure the Maxi did not have a standard inlet tract. In fact if Im right, I think it basically had a long cylindrical air box and a snorkel that led up to the scuttle panel so it was well out of the normal airflow from the bumper.

John, if you want that vent mate, you can have it for a fiver.
