16v rear brakes

hello folks, wondered if any of you have had any trouble with a scoring type sound coming from the back brakes when you are going round corners?

mine used to do it when i first got it and i put it down just to a bit of rust on the discs, and it disappeared after a while, but now its back with a vengence, and is really annoying and possibly worrying if the back brakes are being applied (albeit only slightly) when i go round a corner

any ideas appreciated!

I think one of my rear discs is warped:( I get that all the time and also can hear a chaffing sound when Im at slow speeds and open the passenger window.

I hadnt considered that it might be warped, i wondered if it was a bearing issue but then i would expect a rumble, will have to get it jacked up later and give the wheel a wiggle

is it a constant scoring?

Couldbe worn pads down to the backing, your handbrake is under tension...........

if its not, its probably the warped disc....but how do you war a disc that dont get hot?

pads are ok for definite, handbrake is possible i guess, its strange how it only does it when i am cornering??

if its the early stages of a bearig failure, jsut jack the car and wobble the wheel, there should be NO play in a good bearing

You know I get this with mine, and its generally always the caliper sticking slightly, or first signs of it sticking, if there is no pay from bearing, just take back brakes to bits, clean and reassemble, if sticky caliper it will be the slides rather than the piston that is sticking, aint totally sorted mine yet, and I have a reciept for new calipers 6 months before I bought mine, think they are prone to it.

Yeah, its either the disc on mine or possibly a sticky rear calliper. When Im rolling really slowly, I can hear the disc go through its circle and it rubs at one point in the circle. Thats what makes me think its a warped disc rather than a sticky calliper, although one of the rear callipers has already been replaced.

turns out the wheel bearing had gone after all, and had caused the retaining bolts that hold the stone guard on to grind into the disc, there was a good 2mm step in the disc!! Problem was you couldnt feel the play since the bolts were pressing right up against the disc, so getting some new discs/pads/hub nuts this week, and hopefully this stop that nasty noise?

also has anyone removed there stone guards on the rear discs?
