17 Wheels

Hi, I am new here! Just got myself a new 1.2, 16v Clio. In met black!

Plans so far have been put in place for my customised exhaust system............. the problem I have is the wheels.

My plan was to get some 17" OZ Hyrdas........ but then different people told me not to go for the 17" because they will effect my acceleration too much! What are your thoughts?

Thanks

wont make that much difference on a 1.2 its not liek theres a lot of power there anywasy. go for the 17s if u want style i rekon

It will effect accelleration but, like dave 129, dont think you will notice it but if i were you get some nice 15S and drop her 30-40mm it will look pukka and spot on 17s on a small car look gay in my opinion!

HHmmm... Gay? Do you reckon? The right rims look fine, but if I stay with the 15", it will save me about £800

I have my exhaust system planned, and a price for it. I will then get a new air filter.

Its then down to 17" or keep the 15"?!?

well i aint got a 1.2 so it will be difficult for me to say!? what you done already. I wouuldnt say 15s look crap!? Not if you drop her then you still got plenty of room also

Only just got her, she is untouched! System will be my first thing done!

I have seen a 1.2, with 15" dropped and it looks good. But not as good as a clio with 17" dropped, they do look the dog b*****s! I was just worried about my acceleration

http://www.ecotekplc.com/fitting.htmU color=#0000ffhttp://www.ecotekplc.com/fitting.htm/U! this could help smooths out acceleration, cuts fuel bill, Some say waste of time others say money well spent, yeah good ait filter, good stainless system including manifold with that saved money, de-catted. Its hard you could put that money a side and get an engine transplant *Obviously adding a bit more dollar to the bill. Spend some extra cash get it all tuned up! Your limited with such a small engine!

Personally opinions is that it is for show. Your car will be slower then it is already. I have the same car as you and have a similar dilemma. I am sticking with 15" but plan a 60mm drop. I dont see the point in spending £800 on engine mods and then putting 17" on. Just my personally opinion.

I am not spending £800 on mods, that was just somebodys suggestion, I was going to spend £800 on some Oz Racing Hydra 17" wheels!

The only engine mods I was looking into, was the filter and a new exhaust system!

well if ur only gettin an exhuaust and filter then their not gona give u much noticble gains in power anyway on a 1.2.

its gona make it sound very nice, so get sum nice 17s too.

ive got a 1.4 16v clio that ive had de catted and ramcharger induction kit.

and i personally think that if ur gona have a car that makes alot of noise u need 17s cus people always look and they r like yeh his car sounds the dogs bollox shame hes only got girly 15s on tho!

17s 60mm drop will look the dogs. u dont need to spend 800 odd quid on alloys i dont think. i got sum wicked 17s for £290, and ive spent bout 300 on rubber for them

if id spent £10,000 + on a 172 then i wudnt mess with the alloys . but on a 1.2 mate u wana make it look as nice as possibly.

I know, the cheapest I have seen for the 17" Oz Hydra alloys with tyres is about £750. Anybody know where I could get cheaper.

I know what you are saying, this car will have too look the part, as it wont have the engine to back the noise up!

yeh thats the same with mine it sounds far faster than it really is.

tell u wot u wana do mate is get ur exhuast de catted. it sounds amazing with an induction kit.

definitely go for 17s u wont regret it.

What are you on about!!!! GAY!!! Exactly as Dave said, 1.2s arnt fast, so make em look good instead. -30 on 15s will still look like a tractor.

Plus Ecotecs are REALLY bad! Dont buy them.

I agree with you on the 17" wheels side of the conversation!

Why do you say the Ecotecs are a bad idea? I dont know too much about them tbh!?
