172 a non starter

after having the clip on the diff snap and lose drive and half of it go in my gearbox
i got my gearbox reconned got it put back in my car and now it wont start
anyone got any ideas ?

Is the starter motor cuttting in might well be the top dead sensor problem not being reconnected.
