172 against 206gti 180

Car  Clio MK 4
A lot of people on here will be biased but before i bought my 172 it was either that or a 206gti 180. I've seen a few around latly and i have a soft spot for them but try and make myself feel better in thinking my clio is better in handling and a bit quicker.

is this true lol? Would 172 pahse 2 beat a 206gti180

Dunno but i had a little "play" with one of those and I came off better much to the blokey driving the 206's disgust  (i have a 182 but surely not that much difference)

i was going to get a gti180 but was told the engine was un-reliable. i have gone up against a couple....my 182 did win but not by huge amounts along the straights there isn a great deal in it but round the corners the 1*2s are def alot better. i really like the seats in the 180's though. there not that far off 1*2's but the clio deffinately handle better. and also like one of the other chaps said all the reviews are abit critical of them :)

206 180 - Nice seats, but they don't drive anywhere as nicely as 1*2 but is not much in it performance wise in the real world. The car that made me walk away from Pugs after owning a few.

I have raced a few 206gti 180 and they are slow compared, also had a race with the new 207 gt (you prob seen it in Harrogate that white one with red stripe down middle) along those by-passes going from Harrogate to Knarsbra he was going flat out twiching round the corners i was all over him and i still past him easyley. Pugs are crap m8t (its all in the gear box)

i've left a 180 behind in my cup no problem. they've got better seats tho! but performance not on a par with 172/182

pretty much just as quick as a 1*2,an underated car imo. I would always go for the clio but i actually think the 206 is better built and is cheaper.

LOL @ better built, not looking at the threads on the Pug Club from 180 owners. Both the Clio and 206 have typical french build quality - luck of the draw to if you get a Monday or Friday car.

Aside from all the driving god stories on here, in the actual real world you'd need a long straight (like, 5 miles...) to get past a 180 in a 182 in a straight line. I have plenty of experience of both. The 180 interior in miles better than the 182, but the 182 is waaaay more fun to drive and handles better (although the 180 does have a s**t load of basic grip - it just feels a bit inert). Reliability - well they're both French so neither are gonna win awards heh - but the one I know has never put a foot wrong. Personally I like the looks too - but that's obviously just a personal thing.

ye i've seen that 207 quite a bit. i just quite like the 180's looks and interior. But decided for the clio as heard they were a bit better performance wise.

Not much in it performance wise but I've never read a review that said the GTi was good. The Clio is the better car. Nice seats in the GTi, though.
