172 Alternator Compatibility

Hi chaps, looking for a bit of advice, are all the alternators on the 172's and 182's the same with exception of the cup?

ive got a ph1 172 one but a chap on here has given me the number from his old faulty one and the numbers don't match.
any advice appreciated.

i'm 99% sure all cars with aircon share the same one (cup is different obviously)

maybe the odd difference with wires etc, but nothing hard to sort
