172 and modify rather than 182 ??

Ok. Been looking at possible cars. Insurance renewal (or cancelation time in my case) is coming up soon, and looking to get some cheap P.O.S that's a bit quicker than my existing P.O.S.

So why not just get the same car with a 2 litre engine!!...

Anyway. Looked at 182 cups to start with. Got bored of the premiums people ask for Inferno paint.

Then thought 172cup.. But I think the lack of ABS with today's roads (amount of traffic) is a bit dodgy and for the sake of 0.5 seconds to 100, I'll pass.

So then it came down to the 182. But really, you're not going to notice a 10bhp loss on the road.

So I think I might get a 172 and spend the spare money on tricks considering it wouldn't be in warranty.

All in all then. I'm just wondering whether people think the cup tracking is good enough to warrant buying a 182 over a 172 as I could easily buy better suspension for the 172. Still leaving more than enough for exhaust/wheels/engine tweeking.

imo mate there is nothng in on the roads buddy and for the bargains you can get 172 for owadys i would get a 172 and look for a 182 manifold for around 300 and thereyou go 182 power he he cheers mate good luck with everthing you decide to mate

I prefer the Mk2 personally. And I would like cruise control. Seats etc aren't really an issue as I will probably replace most things in time.

Was thinking of the GDI cams/inlet package rather than ITBs.

172's don't have cruise unless you get a late 04 plate 172, its standard in the 182's though

I have seen 53 plates with CC I believe.

Sorry I meant some 53 plate 172s.

Either way, CC isn't the be all and end all. I can just as easily employ a brick
