I've checked my clio manual to find were the brake fluid bottle is and it shows a diagram of it between the coolant expansion bottle and the power steering fluid bottle but for some reason mine isn't there where it should be can anyone shed any light on were it will be on a 51 plate 172. once i do find which brake fluid should i top it up with if it's required.

Like Neil says , remove the engine cover to get access to the brake fluid reservoir down behind the engine on the drivers side .
Dot 4 brake fluid , castrol response is good stuff , Halfords sell it , about £8.00 a litre .Just be careful not to spill it down behind the engine onto the exhaust manifold , put some rags around the top of the reservoir to catch any spills .
