172 conked out while driving and wont start

how do i diagnose whats wrong with it, my mate seems to think its the coil pack but not too sure

Whats the mileage and age and when was the cambelt and aux belt last changed?

DOes it turn over?

You getting fuel and spark? If neither it'll probably be the TDC sensor. Or could be something more sinister.

Remove the oil cap and crack it over, check to see if the cams are turning.
