Yeah, I know mate and we really struggled to find a suitable stretch of raod when we went playing with an AP22.Quote: Originally posted by Rhys on 17 June 2003
Rich - as you probably know, you need a totally flat road to do AP22 runs. Precious few of those round Sheffield. My favourite one is 10 miles away and its an 8 mile round trip to get back to the start point again!
So, Im intending to do some 100s, but theres no point getting to 100 on a road that changes elevation during the run. It puts the AP22 waaaay out.
IMO 0-60 is a decent look at a traffic light GP type performance. The 172 is nearly a clear second ahead of my Williams by 60mph,. I know that the Willy (with decat and panel filter) does 100 in 18.5 seconds, so Im really hoping for somewhere in the low 17s or late 16s for the 172. Might have to pop out later and give it a try. Long way to go to smoke a clutch though!
Tried the 0-60 time again without a passenger, a bit less fuel and no cat litter/shopping and am very very pleased with the results. So much better than my 172 MK2 (which I am now even more sure was a duff one).
Thats odd. I went out again with just myself, less petrol and a better launch technique and while I did knock some time off the 0-60, it wasnt much (about 0.15 seconds off). Thought it might have been a fair bit quicker.Quote: Originally posted by Pillesnoppen on 18 June 2003
I noticed a huge difference with a passenger in it.

Got mine for £125 from adams_16v who bought it off ebay for a similar price. Seen ones on ebay going for £105, but for gods sake use a sniper tool or the bidding gets pushed right up. They take a fair bit of calibrating, by the way. Ive had to use a GPS unit to measure my speedo, then change the "tilt" setting on the AP22 to make it match the speedo. Taken me weeks to get it right. Oh yeah, also requires a totally FLAT piece of road to get accurate results.

Hmm, seems you made a good profit of me then mate...
ps. Dont forget to post off the case when you find it...
