172 cup not starting? HELP!

Clio 172 CUP and a Valver
hello

I have a 52 plate 172 cup, i can go out to it sometimes and it will start on the key first time, but other time i can go out to it and crank it for 15-20 minutes then it will start and run fine.
Eventually got it started the other day and the light in the middle of the instrument pack was on - i belive it is the limp home light? i couldnt rev it over 3000rpm

I pluged a snap on diagnostic's tester into it and it came up with throttle potensiometer ( sorry about the spelling ) track 1 and 2 crossed.
This made me think that it was possibly a throttle pedal fault.

I then removed the cover for the fuse box in the engine bay with the vehicle running and it cut out straight as, well as soon as i touched the engine wiring harness connector.

I have read about possible wiring harness fault under the air box on top of the gearbox.

I stripped back all the loom but cant see any obvious wiring fault - i could realy do with some advice from someone who has possibly had this fauklt before or maybe have wiring diagrams for the 172 phase 2 clio.

Help would be much appreciated
Cheers Ash
