172 cup problem

There is a electrical plug sticking up on a pipe about 3 inches infront of the alternator, noticed that the male electrical plug on a wire is not connected to it, and hanging loose

Should these be connected on a 172 cup and whats it for

Help please????

Thank you Mr Pink, what does it do and should there be a wire plugged into it on my 172 cup??

My power steering is fine so not sure what its for, there is a plug thats been hanging loose for months that looks like it should plug into this. ( its very corroded tho)

Should be a wire plugged in. Something to do with idle correction when giving load on the steering pump by turning the wheel. Clean it, some WD40 and it should work.
