172 cup speedo stops working?

hi, not posted on this site in years, im just wondering if anyone has any ideas on a problem that the girl next doors cup has developed,

she said the speedo keeps going off when driving and when it does the car feels as if she is accelerating or getting more power?

weird!

just wondered if this has happened to anyone elses 172 or anyone might have an idea what could be the problem/fault!

Check the speedo sensor at the back of the gearbox most likly its come loose.

ok mate thanks, will the car need to be jacked up to get under it or can the sensor be seen with the bonnet up?

Get under the car sensors faces sort of upwards on the top of the box.
