172 cup steering rack mount to subframe

  Clio 172 cup
Hello all,

If anyone can offer help on this it'd be much appreciated!

Following a prang, we've had the car jigged and replaced the subframe. We're now changing everything over including the steering rack. The new subframe doesn't currently have the steering rack mounts bolted on. The top passenger side bolt which goes through the subframe from the back of the car and into the steering rack mount won't go in because of a lack of space there. Am I right in thinking the subframe needs to come off again to get the bolt in there? We're hoping to avoid this as we've spent alot of time making the car straight and fitting the new subframe!

Thanks in advance,

Peter

I was afraid of that! So I'm just dropping the back side of the subframe enough to get the bolt in there. Cheers for the help.

You'll need access to fit the rack any way won't you? Personally I would drop it as there isn't much access

The engine and box are out so there's space for working on the steering rack with the subframe on. Dan, how do we do it with the subframe on?

Cheers for the replies. Ended up dropping the subframe today without taking it off completely which sorted it.
