172 Cup track wheels + tyres

Just looking at options for track wheels and tyres for a 172 Cup. Track tyres aren't available in a 195/45 16 as far as I can see. I've been looking at 195/50s instead. It occurred to me I could drop to a 15" rim instead, where track tyres are both cheap and plentiful. Any reason why this is a bad idea please?

(I did a search for an equivalent thread but found nothing)

There should be a ton of threads about it

It's a very good idea

Less weight, less unsprung mass, better handling, cheaper and more available tyres

All the track cars run 15's

I preferred mine on the 15 inch Oz wheels from a ph1 172 and tyres are a LOT cheaper mate!

Have a look on here in market place, they are always coming up for sale with track tyres already on like r888s.

Federal RSR tyres are also worth a look for road and track, I'm trying these at the moment and very impressed with them.
