172 Cup tyre sizes

Hello there i am looking at getting some new tyres for my 16" Speedline turini's, the current tyres are 195/45/16 but for some reason the edge of the rim sticks out meaning it will be easy to curb. So im thinking of running 215/40R16 has anyone used this size before? and will the profile on the tyre be enough to minimise curbing with the rim protector?

I'd run 205/45 or 205/40, the 45's will be cheaper

I used to run 205/40 paradas on my valver with turinis fitted
