172 Engine Trouble!

Really hope you guy’s can help!

Ive got a 2002 172, recently I have been having a few probs, she starts & runs perfectly when cold, & drives fine & sounds good until she gets warm, firstly I noticed that she sounded like a bag of ‘s**t on idle when hot, (but on increased revs seems to disapear) & after roughly 15-20 mins of driving she kinda, lurches pops & misses when I go to put my foot down, the rev counter jumps about & struggles for power then she dies… & I cant re start until she’s cooled down for about 20 mins.. I recently changed the TDC sensor & I have no warning lights on the dash!

Please help its driving me nuts!!!!

Have the belts been done recently? What oil is in it?

Belts havent been done, its only done 30,000 miles, been off road for 6 months but had a service only 2 mths ago.

It could be water in the spark plugg holes. Thought it was the coil pack or worse whem my car did that but no, water was the cause. Symptoms will just run worse the hoter the car gets, mine started cuting out an all. This is something you must check. Use pressuarised air to blow them clean and dry.

Well if it's over 5 years old, then the belts should really have been changed.

I'd take it to a Renault specialist ASAP.

Thaks & I will cange the belts as soon as I can, Not knowing too much about belts etc, would worn belts give me this kind of problem? I know they should be done but would it effect the timming etc? do they stetch, jump a tooth?
Initially i though it was the coil pack, but that was tested & seems ok, now im leaning towards lambda sensor / over fueling! Just seems strange that it only hapens when hot..
