172 Exhaust question

  02 172 pre ESP Monaco(13)
Just fitted a new centre section to my exhaust, got it from Ces UK. Problem is that the pin that goes through the rubber bracket on the drivers side just before the bend and the bracket don't meet up. Its too far back and also the exhaust is hanging quite low. Anyone got any ideas as CES say they usually fit fine, but it can't go any further along as the CAT stops that. Tried to add a pic not sure if its worked

It doesnt look that far out in the pic, did they definatly send the right one? As there are 2 centre section sizes for 172s. the 172mk1 centre section is about 5cm longer.

Phoned the CES bloke and he says it is for the ph 2. I did question that and even said not for the ph1 or 3 or 182 etc. He was fairly sure. The tip will go in but not stay there which is amplified as its hanging low

Also as its sitting low its knocking when I go over bumps, here was me thinking that not £172+ for a new Renault piece of crap was a good idea. The pain of not having enough cash for a decent one. I'll probably just have to get back under it and try find a solution

should've called yozzasport, i'm sure he can do the whole catback exhaust genuine renault for £200ish!

Lesson most likely learned, should've probably put the no silencer twin exit S/S one that came with it on and saved but I can't stand boy racer exhausts.

Does it hang low because its not hooked in the mount? Im sure the mount will stretch to hold it in, you'd be suprised how much they will stretch. Might even be worth seeing if your engine mounts will allow for any movement forward (although unlikely). If it still doesnt fit you can try moving the rubber mount, or take it to an exhaust place and move/extend the hook.

Got it damn close with a small amount of heat and a large hammer but going to have to take it somewhere to get it in properly, manage to get it to sit higher so hopefully bogded enough to work properly

As fred says, you can tell from shape of the silencer thats not a genuine renault exhaust.

Have just had a new one put on, and silencer and that mount look nothing like that.

Looks upside down to me.

The way the tailbox is mounted means you could probably still fit it to the centre section even if the centre section was upside down - the tailbox mount will twist.

Not running outside at this time to check mine, but looking at these

which admittedly aren't OEM, the pipe should bend to the left (viewing from the rear of the car) after the silencer. Looks from your pic as if it's bending right.

If you imagine your pic with the centre section rotated 180°, it looks like it will fit into the hanger fine.
