172 fog lights??? Do not work

I have a problem with my front fog lights

They do not work, even when i turn my automatic lights off as i find my rear ones only work when the automatic light feature is off.

I dont even get a light come up on the dash board to say the front fogs are on

i Have checked the fuse, it seems ok, do the front and rear fogs work off the same fuse?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated

arent they in the engine compartment tho? down near the nearside headlight?

i just find it strange how the rear ones work but the front ones dont, cos would have thought they run off the same circuit.

good idea tho cos if the relay isnt working maybe that is why i get no light on the dash board

The headlight relays are on the UCH which is in the passenger side of the dash. You can hear them if you manually turn the headlights one you'll hear them pull in.

Easiest way is to swap the two foglight relays and see if the problem swaps too. If you get in the passenger footwell and look up you'll see them.

Anybody got any idea which relay the front fog lights use? i have got 6 under the front passenger side of the dash, i cant seem to see which ones to swap, and when i turn the rear fog light on which is working , none of them are clicking in, any ideas?

still cant get them to work and i have got an M.O.T coming up soon

no, only the rears are required for the MOT. The fronts are just an accessory.

Still if you've got them you'd want them working. Would wind me up big style, give me a minute to install dialogys and i'll see if I can find which one is the fog light one.

There you go, just swap it with another light relay.

I had this problem on my ph1 172 and it turned out to me knackered wiring connectors - both my front fogs just stopped working. Fred sorted it for me but it was a pain to do apparently!

Just for future reference, with the auto lights you still need to turn the main light switch on in order for the fogs to work..stupid huh !
