172 Front Brakes - Replace Standard or Upgrade....?

Hi all,

Need to swap out my front discs and pad's, would you replace with standard parts or uprated? Read some mixed reviews about Brembo Disc's and also some of EBC Green Stuffs... The car is for road use only, and rare "spirtied driving"....

What's the most cost effective way to get decent brakes?

Also... Can anyone give me a link to a Website which tells me what the discs size & width are (back discs are at 9mm thick, is this low ?)

brembo front discs = £59 a pair
stock pads are around £45
EBC greens are around the same

mintex / apec pads are better than stock and are only £25 for fronts

Without spending a lot of money on 4 pots which by the sounds of the you won't get the worth of just do the usual of decent pads, discs, fluid and braided lines.

What you get specifically is personal preference as much as anything, i've got brembo hc discs, greenstuff pads all round, goodridge lines and castrol super responce fluid and it does me plenty for the driving you describe. Nice improvement over standard.

Already got a bottle of Castrol Super Dot 4.

Where's the best place to get Brembo's and Green Stuffs from ?

For the brembos I think GDI are the cheapest, thats where I got mine from. I got the pads from ebc direct (http://www.ebcbrakesdirect.com/) they were the cheapest, they don't look it btw but the discount isn't added until you checkout.

Going with the Brembo HC + Ebc Greens myself in a few months, seems a good enough match for a good price!
