172 front foglights mysterious fault?

  Evo
In these wintery and cold months im finding i need the fogs more and more often in the early morning commute, only problem is i've only owned the car since August and i was yet to find out the front fogs dont work...

Now im not exactly shy to working on car electrics and can usually identify simple faults pretty quickly so all the usuals have been checked. Two new bulbs in both lamps 20 amp fuse is okay and the relay can be heard to be clicking under the glovebox. The instrument light comes on the dash too.

Now i've got a plug next to the N/S foglight which has no power to it so i know the faults further up the system. Follow the plug up and the two wires ( white and maroon ) go into the loom which then feeds into the under bonnet fuse box so i lose it there.

Before i wire my own bloody switch and feed in with much cable ties and insulation tap is there any common issues here i should know about?

cheers all.

The routing goes from the UCH (Passenger footwell area) through the bulkhead via a big connector (Which you will need to remove the wiper gear and washer bottle to access) then in to the engine bay (specifically to the black plastic box under the bonnet) and from there is goes to various other loom sections and multiplugs.

IIRC the front lights are in there own plug not the large white one but Its been a while since I've messed around with X65 lighting so I wouldn't put money on that point.

Have the fogs got a good earth and we're sure its lack of power?

A seperate feed to the plug closest to bulkhead/UCH gets the lights working so im guessing the earths okay.
