172 handbrake cable

i bought 2 new handbrake cables from andrew page the other day tried fitting them today, took old ones off
fitted the new ones from the back to the front, adjusted the nut on the rod from the handbrake, that is above the heat shield.

had a nightmare getting the heat shield off as 2 bolts had rounded off!!

anyway the new cables are about an inch too small no matter how hard i tried to get them to fit it wouldn't. are they always a bit shorter and need to stretch a bit or have i been given the wrong ones??

any ideas??

oh and the handbrake down off and right down to the floor

could you wind the central adjuster all the way down? this is right under the middle exhaust section.

yeah i wound the adjuster all the way down took the nut off in the end as it still wouldnt reach

Id say its the wrong cable then could be a set for a valver or willy

also does anyone know where to get a set that are cheaper than renault and actually fit the car lol

2 sets ive ordered dont fit
