172 headlamp washer balls

Lee

  BMW M2C

Rarely does a month go by where the little Clio has no reason to go the dealers and this month is no exception.

On my drive to work this morning I noticed my left headlamp washer was in fact doing a very good job of cleaning the car in front of me.

Obviously Ive lost my ball.

I know this is a common one, so can I just buy a new ball and pop it in or is there more to it than that?

You can only buy the hole thing. its about £5 and you have to remove the bumper.

I looked at the washer.. looked at the bumper.. though f**kit and whipped the ball out the new one and popped it in the old one, been in there for over 6 months now.. no probs..

Have you got the part number for the whole unit, Ill give them a call and pick one up in the morning?

I think Ill try popping a new ball in first, rather than waste an hour of my life in the service reception. Its usually not too bad, but they cant have Kilroy on now.

Part number was: 7701207168

According to Renault Birmingham there are only 2 left in the country, one of which is going to be mine Saturday morning.

No wonder these things pop out when using the headlamp washers. Ive just put a new ball in and removing it from the new unit can be done by hand with a little twist!!!

Ive had the same one changed twice and now its leaking from the whole unit (only when used) but I really cant be arsed with all the hassel the dealers give you....its only a washer ball..should it really take weeks just to get the right part in?

Youd think Id asked em to put a V6 engine in with all the faffing!!!

Lee I went to put a coin in the little slit to twist it out and the thing practically popped out in my hand as I was doing it, I didnt hold out much hope of it staying in for very long but 6 months later its still there.
