172 headlight washers??

Now this might sound like a silly question, but how the hell do you get the headlight washer jets to spray? its driving me mad, i cant work out how and neither can my mate on his V6.

Lights need to be on and they come on once in every 3 or 4 times you use the front windscreen washers.

The come on after about 2 seconds of holding down the washer stalk with the lights on.

i thought it would be something like that, i have tried this with no joy, do they run off the same tank as the windscreen washers? or have they a seperate one.

Same tank, different pump. It's all UCH controlled.
