172 hesitation at 5k rpm

Yes another problem lol The car would hesitate throughout the rev range when I first got it, and I replaced the plugs which cured it mostly however under full chat the car holds back or misses at 5k and over...any ideas? I didnt think the leads were in bad condition when I looked over them

right this has got worse now, its flat as fook over 4000 rpm at full pelt and the engine light flashes (the one on the right on the insturment cluster, any ideas??

could be lack of fuel pressure (new pump needed), breathing problems (airfilter blockage). HT leads breaking down, coil pack braking down

also what fuel are you useing? 95-99?

has had 95 in but ive just put v power in today, anyway of reading the fault? im assuming thats what the flashing light was? a fault code being stored? Dont really fancy forking out 60 quid to have renualt tell em something simple

Cat knackered? Sounds like the emission light is what you described.

hesitation can also point to a lambda, it solved it on my valver. Hows you MPG?

aha! emission light! just looked in the owners manual and its that light that was flashing... so is that likely to be buggerd cat? or buggered lambda sensor? any tests to determine which?
