172 Inlet Manifold Cup Racer

Car  Clio 182 Trophy 047/500
I have been offerend a 172 Cup racer inlet manifold, very cheap from a contact from work.

It was fitted to the car in the 2005/6 season before they upgraded to the 182 Inlet.

Question. If i were to take this and get it ported polished/mathced, would I see any gain in performance from this compared to the standard one which is fitted to my Trophy, or would I be better off selling it on and then with the money i have made, get my existing Inlet sorted.

Also what soret of price should I be looking at to get the inlet ported and polished.

(Awaits Fred's reply):rasp:

Is it possible the manifold from the cup racers have been matched already? Don't the racers put out more then the road cars?

F**K Me that was quick you must have been reading my mind LOL

So in theroy I could get this, send it of the be matched and polished, and see a slight gain, from standard?

^^ Why not, I was under the impression that the inlet on the 172 was the same as the 182. Correct me if i am wrong????

inlet manifolds are the same, plenhams are different

Steve just get yours matched, there's no benefit from using a cup racer one

cup racers do make more power but thats unrelated to the inlet manifold!

can i ask where they do make the extra power from then??

higher rev limit, no aircon, different engine mapping (using magnetti marelli) better exhaust, cable TB, air feed from headlight etc etc

the engine's i believe are blueprinted, but i'm not 100% on that BenR will know more!

Well its better than the French Cr@p that they call food.

As far as I was aware there was nothing German in my car, if there was I would'nt expect that many rattles LOL

I didn't think the cup racers were that mouch more powerful than normal? Just the box and light weight that gave them their speed..about 180bhp?

Chris

formula renault run a diff plenum again.

cliocup run a boggo standard engine, but they are sealed.....nothing blueprinted about them.
