172 interior into cup



  Clio 172 cup + 325ci
Picked up myself a full interior from a 172 to throw into the cup..Is this as straight foward as i think it is or is there any issues i can expect?

why???

but in answer to your question, im sure it will throw up the airbag warning and serv light as the cups dont have side airbags mounted into the seats.......which i presume is what the interior youre deciding to put in will have.

im sure this can be corrected at a specialist????

Why?? Because the standard cup interior looks w**k and my own seats have a tear in them..the 172 interior isnt amazing but looks nicer and its hardly going to make the car any slower on the road with the extra few kg's.

It's a straight swap iirc. The front seats are a bit of a pain to remove and put in as the bolts are under the car.


Just keep the cup ones in! I found the cup ones hold you better than the standard 172 seats

with those hot sticky seats in the summer with no aircon oh dear!


We dont really get a Summer here in Ireland mate :)

Plus i bought the Cup as i got it cheaper than any other 00-01 ph1 172 for sale in Ireland..They are few and far between over here mate so the seats didnt bother me but ive now picked up 172 seats cheap and IMO they look nicer so why not..

Erm no the aircon would of already cooled the car thus not letting the seats get to a higher degree of temp, im intitiled to my own opinion!!

Op if you've managed to pick up a normal 172 interior fire it in as you say it's nicer than the cloth cup interior that's fitted. If you get any lights up on the dash take it to someone that has a Renault clip and get them to turn them off.

I know what you mean mate..I didnt go out specifically looking for a Cup.Just happend to find one at a great price..There litterally 2-3 clio 172/182 for sale over here at any one time..Hardly ever see them on the road.They are starting to get more popular though

thanks for the replies guys..Il throw them in and see what i think..If i dont like i can always change back or throw some recaros in if im lucky.

No way i ignorantly didnt know that and do apoligise for not knowing the whole story, there great little cars i love mine.

once youre new seats are in you will get a warning light up but as steve says get a specialist or someone with a clip to turn them off for you.

No problem at all..when i bought the car i was offered 2 different 00 ph1 that were both rough and price over here is around 2500-3k euros for such examples.
I ended up finding the Cup up in northern Ireland and then had to pay VRT (vehicle registration tax) to register the car in republic of Ireland and i managed to land the car registered for 2600 euro..Not bad for a december 03 Cup considering your talking the same if not more for rough 00 examples..

I love the car.So much fun..No other plans other than refreshing the suspension and then maybe a few engine mods :)

thats still a good price, im on my second cup had a ph1 aswell but this one is the best ive had though.

i just renewed my track rods and ball joints with a geometery setup few weeks ago and it feels so much firmer and stable when cornering. its also has a ktr supersports stealth exhaust and eibachs sportlines, next few weeks im going for matched inlets and a remap:p.

well i fitted the seats and as expected the airbag/service light came on.im not worried about that but on seeing other threads about seat belt pre tensioners i have just connected up the connecter block with the yellow clip on the side under each seat..Is that all that i need to do from a safety point of view or are they just connected and doing nothing? I read on another thread that a guy actually changed over the tensioners and switches and all when putting 172 seats into a 1.2.I just want to make sure i havent made the car into a death trap as i do have my son in the car too

in regards to the statement of a service light and airbag light being thrown up on the dash, faults can be erased no problem with a Renault CLIP computer but it may keep lodging a fault in the computer and displaying the airbag light :/

dont worry your car and seat belts should not be affected by the conversion (from a safety point of view). Only problem is that your car will fail m.o.t or any form of inspections to see if the vehicle is road legal if the service light/ airbag light is present during inspection, hope this has answered some of your questions
