172 lowering & alloy size

  Mondeo ST TDci

ok, i know this prob has been done a million and 1 times.. but would just like up2 date info.

I want to fil the arches on my 172 exclusive, ive been told that 17" would go on ok but im curious as to weather this would fill the arches any more? if not .. how much would i need to lower it by without it scrubbing or needing any extra mods to arches etc.

is 17 max size? or just the best fit size?

Cheers! sorry if this has been done to death already.

7 x 17" wheels and a small drop will fill the arches just fine. The most popular way of achieving this is to get an Eibach Pro spring kit, which will cost around £120. Lowers the car about 25mm which is just enough. You wont get any rubbing providing the wheels have the correct offset (ET37), and the handling of the car will improve.

my mate had 17s and a 40mm drop. it rubbed on the front inner arches near where the bumper bolts on. do as mike says and get the ebiach springs which only lower about 20mm.
