172 manifold vs the 182, which one & why??

Along with other planned mods i have consider changing the 172 mani for the 182 version, are there good gains to be had from this? what does the car earn other than the claimed 10hp, better torque, longer power curve? are the bennefits of keeping the 172 over the 182 mani?

I think im right in saying the 172 mani provides better torque and low down power but the 182 gives better top end power?? Someone confirm this!!

Agrh right, may keep the 172 one then, do love the rev happy motor along with my group n rev limiter removed :evil:, although with fuel prices beeing silly now it may be worth getting a 182 manifold to get more out of the lower rpm

BenR I konw we've been over this, but since we are on the subject.
Is a 182 mani + custom straight thru 2,25'' a good upgrade to the standard ph1 172 ???? From what I know 182 4-2-1 exhaust mani is slightly bigger in diameter (~50mm for standart 4-1 172 and ~55mm for 182)
You know I plan to put those CatCams 421 soon and it'll be a good moment to fit a new exhaust. Since I trust You most I'm interested in Your opinion

Ben is certainly right, it needs subframe removal. If you can source a second haned one and find a garage which will not rip you off I strongly suggest you get one. Especially for cammed cars, it is vital. If you can get custom map as well for it, now it is an icing on the cake. My car pushes 15 % more torque at low rpms as compared to the 4-1 mani.

I already bought one few months ago, it's waiting fot a cambelt change to fit it, along with new cams :)
