172 Mk1 dyno test

  clio 172 mk1
Hi all,

Having recently purchased a nice 172 Mk1, I put it to the RR test today, it's got BMC CDA installed as seen in pic, ventilated properly through the front grille. What do the forum pundits think? Shouldn't this damn CDA thing give it something besides a nice roar?

That BMC is probably worse than the standard setup as it only has 1 feed going into it instead of 2.

Standard airbox with a good filter like an ITG is tons better imo.
IK's are designed to make you part with your cash for 0.000001% gains if any at all.

A gain is a gain, regardless f how small... but ik's are not worth the money on their own.

Although that seems a fairly healthy result imho.

Mate if you look under the slam pannel there should be a hole that you can feed the CAF through so you dont have so much of a kink in it.

That hole was there allright, tried to feed the CAF through it, but it wouldn't oblidge. Regrettably, although the previous owner gave me the standard airbox and the twin CAFs that went along with it, he didn't provide me with any dyno measurments and that bend is not that sharp as seen on pic, it's actually smoother I guess it's the pic angle. The guy who run the test swore that he measured 100s of 172 mk1s and with standard airbox none surpasses 162 PS, and I feel a good pull above 5000 rpm as seen on graph, apart from CDA everything is left standard, would anyone know the normal measurments of this model?

cheers

This is from the BMC site, normal measurment is consistent with what my RR guy said today, but results with CDA on, look overoptimistic to say the least, a gain of 9 PS looks way too much.
