172 mk2 knocking noise

I keep getting a knocking noise from the front end of my 52 172.

renault uk reckon its a noise that they cannot fix as it is due to a series of tight bends on the pipe from the power steering rack, I always get the noise on left hand turns especially bumpy roads. Anyone have this same problem as they say it is evident on all 172s!!!

I get that on my dci! aint took it back though as i just put it down to me goin round bends too fast? ah well

The engine mount under the battery is known to be slack on some 172s. Reno should know about this! Also there is also a known problem with the suspension top mounts on some 172/Cups. Again Reno know about this and have recently issued a mod instruction.

had the same problem with mine, exchanged hydraulic engine mount, complete new steering rack under warranty. All ok now.

p.s. my sound was noticable when shifting from 1 to 2 and let the clutch come you heared a knock, also driving over a ´rill´in the road. You can feel the knock in the steering rack, try it. Renault has made some KIM notices of this problem
