Probably been asked before, but after 10mins searching couldn't find anything.

Changed the oil a couple of months ago and at the weekend had to put a litre in to get it back to the top marker on the dip stick.

Is that normal?

Just keep an eye on it, if it continues to use oil then it isnt normal. I filled mine with a whole container of the recommended Renault Evolution oil and mine was still down from the max mark. I never bothered topping it up anymore because it didn`t drop any further, i think it drops because the new oil filter space is filled with oil after you have run the car. So you actually need about 5 litres and a bit to fill it completely.

as for above post oil filters only hold around 100ml of oil, but yes they take 5liters to fill the F4R

How many miles did it take to use that?

I think you have to have fairly large oil consumption before Renault regard it as a problem.

Mine uses a couple of litres between services (12k) and I don't think that is out of the ordinary.

mine never used to use any but has recently started to use some. bit wierd in that it'll be fine one day then the next day i'll start it up and oil light will be flashing even though they'res no oil on ground. any thoughts on that?

Mine only seams to use it when it's been on a very very hard drive.

Thanks for the advice lads. Its used about a litre in a 2/3k. But it never used any prior to this occasion.

So does it make a difference how hard you drive it? That could possibly be it.

Just keep your eye on it once a week, they shouldnt use too much even when hammered. It will just be beacuse you didnt put enoguh back in on the change after it had sunk down

worst case scenario what could cause it to be using oil?

I did put just over 5 litres in when i changed it.
