Id buy a black (or red) 172 - put on Turinis and the cup spoilers + uprated the springs if youve got any money left - Sorted

Theres one round here like that and it just looks like a black cup

Sweet

If you live in an area with bad roads (like croydon) then the cups hard ride is a pain in the arse!

Dont get them wound up or get people started on about a 182 Cups.

Basically IMO the Cup is a stripped out more hard core stiffer suspension lowers ligtened with no leather seats zeons or abs. Its supposed to be quicker than a 172 but will depends no to many things.

Id go for a 172 personally as I like my toys and the main advanatge to me for getting a cup ie the suspension can be bettered with aftermarket stuff.

i found that the cup feels faster than the "in my case" 182 dont know why it just did but i prefer the toys...thats why i got rid of my cup

whats the interior on the 172 cup like compared to the 172? is the 172 much nicer, any diff in build quality between the two, not bothered about the speed diff as i dont think that i will notice it?! however it seems alot easier to find a decent 172 cup than a 172. opinions plz

Its slightly different colour and noisyier (cup has less sound proofing)

Same build quality although as the cups noisier (should be) you might think its worse. They reasonable build quality just rattle in general.

There are pre registed Cups comming onto the market which were held in stock and quite a few cups being swopped for 182 so there will apear more but there are a lot of 172 out there and the difference shouldnt be much.

It is quicker than a 172.

On average but not in all cases.

I went for the standard 172 because I wanted ABS/aircon etc etc - try doing a search, and by the time youve finished reading everyones opinions, Renault will have stopped making Clios anyway ;)

Put me in any standard Cup vs any standard 172, and when I say standard I mean 172 with full interior and spare and ill beat it everytime.

Bothered. Everyone knows the Cup is quicker. How much quicker is the part most people over-estimate. If you were so much as to half-fluff a gear change the Cups advantage is gone. Its totally down to the driver.

For example, I have seen videos of you in your Cup and you can launch it very well, being an experienced 1/4 miler. I on the other hand have never attempted 1/4 miling ( and have no intention to do so) and would undoubtedly be rubbish at getting my car off the line. I would bet money that you in a standard 172 against me in a standard Cup would see you win 9 times out of ten.

Never said it to bother anyone lager just stating a fact.
Fact is your facts arent worth the paper they arent printed on now thats a factor when quoting facts.

I have driven both cars and raced them standard vs standard (organised race) and it is faster. Not by the margin some ppl think but it is noticeably faster.

  172 cup TT

also, sorry to ask.. but 182 Vs Cup - ive heard the 182 is quicker.. but how can it be? it only has extra 10brake but is heavier?!surely its "at best" as quick but not quicker... *long term confused*

If its absolutely necessary that ur the quickest thing out there, then buy a Cup, and carefully follow the instructions below:

Dont drive with more than 1/4 tank fuel
Dont fill your windscreen washer reservior
Remove rear seats and parcel shelf
Remove stereo headunit & all four speakers
Dont carry passengers
Dont carry luggage
Dont carry spare wheel & Jack
Dont eat/drink at all
Fill your tyres with helium
Remove your valve caps

The above will save you a lot of weight, and your car will FLY!

If ur not so fussed about competitively racing your clio, but want a FANTASTIC drive, with all your creature comforts, then get a 172.

  172, Tiguan

I suggest you buy a Skoda or something, then you dont have to put up with all this complete b****cks every 5 minutes.

I always try and have a good crap before I set off on a journey too as that has gotta save a bit of weight .. lol ;)

LMAO!

I heard that the instruction manuals on the Cup and 172 are different. Apparently, the Cup has an extra section on the Atkins diet.;)

Tell you what, though, if I was running from the missus, Id want to get away QUICK - Cup would be my choice.
