172 Philips Silver Vision bulbs

Hi... I have just brought some new shape Clio rear lights for my 172. I have found that from reading somewhere in this forum that Philips make silver bulbs (called Silver Vision) that flash Orange with in use. So they look far better than the amber bulbs when behind clear lenses!

I just brought 2 sets...for the front and back. But ALSO.. I would like to know if anyone knows if I can get these for the side repeaters that are on the wings? As I want to get some clear oval side repeaters to replace the orange ones! Any ideas?? Or will I still have to have orange bulbs behind my clear side repeaters? I think the type of bulb is a W5W.

I have just fitted a set of silver vision bulbs to the fron and they are loads better then the crappy amber ones mate!!

You dont need to fit them to the rears unless you have Lexus lights as you cannot see the amber bulb.

If you get some clear side repeaters you can get clear bulbs too that flash Amber.

Hi Smokey.. yes.. I changed my rear lights to the new 172 lights..and they have a clear indicator section in them. The bulb is easy to see through the glass... unless you have Silver vision bulbs... so will look loads better on the rears.

Please can u help to tell me where I can buy the clear ones that flash amber for the tiny side repeaters? Thanks again!!

If he has new shape lights then you will be able to see the orange bulbs on the rear as the indicator is clear (see pic), but beware as the backs take a different bulb to the front i.e the lugs on the front bulbs are exactly opposite on the fronts and on the rears the lugs are offset, you can however file one of the lugs down and they will fit

Thanks 172cup! (Yes...Ill file one of the lugs off for the back... cheers for the info!) I just got off the phone to them...and they said that Philips Silver vision are not made in the smaller w5w size. Only Blue Vision ones. But ...how do I get around this? and are the clear white bulbs legal?

Any ideas anyone? or a make of bulb that will supply them?

you CAN buy silver side repeater bulbs

your local Motor World can order them for you...

ok... thanks. I did just find out that using the genuine Clio Cup clear side repeaters.. u can hardly see the orange bulbs through them, so Ill see how they look with the standard bulbs. Gotta feeling theyll be fine after all!

You need to stand right next to the car looking down through the top of the lense to see the side repeators have orange bulbs.
