Hah, I bidded on this car. I emailed the seller and asked what the reserve was - he said £5900.

I watched the bidding end and it stood at £4301 until the final 30 seconds when someone bidded £5900 (just happened to be the reserve).

The winning bidder was from Wakefield, the seller was in Leeds. Nothing unusual there, however I emailed the seller after the auction had finished and he replied saying the car didn't sell on eBay and he won't let it go for under £6200.

You can get cheeper with much lower milage on autotrader.

If you buy a cheep car to start with I dont see the problem with it getting cheeper over time.

Why would he not have got £5900 for it if he'd advertised it ??
I thought £5900 for a 53 reg 172 was a bit on the cheap side tbh.

I would have paid £5900 for that if i was after a flame red 172ff, seems quite reasonable for a 53, i ve seen 51/02 examples around the £5.5k mark.

About right given 46k miles I reckon.

I paid £6200 for mine with 34k miles a couple of months ago. That wasn't the cheapest around, but it was in the best condition

I'm so glad I never bought a 172 a few years ago.
The bad news is i'll have to tell my dad that according to cs his car is worth about a quid (it's a 52 reg 172)
