172 Radio....

Car  BMW F21 125d
Hi all, Do i need a specific adaptor to install an after market headunit into a 172 ? Do i need an ISO Adaptor? Im not bothered about losing the steering wheel controls.....

Badger

If your not bothered about the controls then no. You only need an adapter for the steering controls.

Also, I dont have the keys to remove the standard CD player - any ideas ?

And.... (sorry) do i need a surround for an aftermarket stereo or is the standard one standard size, looks to be but just checking

Dave

Nope standard size, the removal tool is a standard hoop affair you can get them from halfrauds for a couple of quid.

One further question... You know the display screen in the clio, if i put in an aftermarket stereo, i imagine i'd lose the bit that says "RADIO 1" etc.... but will it still show the clock and temp guage or will i lose the lot ?

Nope depending what adapter/headunit you use you'll loose the screen function or you won't, but the clock and temp will always be there.

I got a alpine 9812 in mine lost the radio 1 bit,

I got a adaptor cost a bit but it does the display and the controls. didnt think id miss them but when you get used to using them.

It was a proper bugger to fit u have to take off the top panel and disconnect the clock then reconnect his adaptor
