This is a guide of how to adjust the rear mount to stop the vibrations when accelartaing hard in low gears. could someone make this a sticky?
Right, first of all you will need:
Axle stands
16mm socket with extension bar and spanner
Ok, open the bonnet and you will see this on the right hand side of the engine bay:
Loosen (doesnt have to be completly undone) the 4 bolts around the engine mount, this is the top mount adjustment, push the engine back as far as possible and then tighten the bolts up.
Next, put the car on axle stands, and undo the dog bone mount:
You will also have to loosen the back of it to enable it to swing down:
This is the bracket:
The two 16mm bolts you can see on the bracket are the ones you have to loosen to allow the bracket to move, once you have loosened(not undone!) these bolts off:
Push the bracket towards the front of the car, so the bottom moves towards the front and the top of the bracket will pivot out towards the rear of the car, now, (this is the tricky part!) whilst pushing the bracket forwards, you have to do up the top bolt to hold it there, and then do the bolts up as tight as possible.
Put the dog bone mount back on, and check everything is tight.
Recheck the top mount is tight,(if it still vibrates, you will have undo the bolts, then pull the engine towards the front of the car and do the bolts up.)
This has worked everytime on my car, im not sure if the mk2 172 has this same mount set up!
Hope this helps everybody!
