172 running lumpy popping and banging a lot. Knock sensor?

Hi guys, My 172 started popping and banging a lot last week coinciding with a drop from 29-34mpg to 25-27 and the EML light came on codes that appeared were catalytic converter below efficiency (decatted) and something about a knock sensor. Would the knock sensor cause this? there is also a strong smell of fuel when the car is running.

Probs a coil pack or fuel injector mate had the same problem but check for water in spark plugs first as thats what mine was!

Lambda sensor i would say.
