172 Servicing question

Hi Guys, new member here.

I am going to be buying a phase 2 172 shortly and the one I have looked has done 35k miles. It was serviced at 12k & 24k and so is due its 36k shortly. I just wondered if someone can give me an idea of the cost of this service from a dealer as I'd like to knock a bit off the price of the car.
Also, when does the cambelt need changing? The car is a 2002. Just wondered if it needed changing after a certain time period as its done below average miles for its year.

Your looking at around the £600 mark from a stealer seeing as the aux & c/belt will need replacing.

my 36k inc. aux belt cost about £350. It'll be coming up to cam belt soon too. (5 years) Not sure on the cost of that.

Blimey. Thats a bit more than I was expecting. I wonder how much he will knock off the price. It's up for £6100. Completely standard and does look immaculate. Do you think thats a fair price? I don't want to spend more than £5800 really at the most.

Aux belt at 5 yrs or 36K and cam belt at 5ys or 72K. 36K service and aux belt should cost you about £250 from an independent Renault specialist. Main dealer will charge you at least another £100 more. Expect to pay £300 - £400 for a cam belt change. All things to consider when making an offer for the car, especially as its due the 36K service in 1K.

Ever 12k or 2 years whichevers soon.

Thats the official rules when Renault warentied the car I'd service it more personaly.

just bought mine in nov 02 reg 35k had its 36k service £1557 at a dealer!

service 379, cambelt 420, 4x discs and pads 4x spark plugs cv boot needed doing as well got a shock when they phoned me tp tell me!!

Mine has recently had its 36k service. Cost me £190 from a mate of mine who ownes a local garage who specialise in perfomance cars. I also had cam belt done at same time as it was due with my car being 6years old, that cost £360 including Aux belt.

Renault quoted me £300 for service and £500 for cam belt change, so well worth shopping around.

Your cambelts not due until 72k , but i'd would have left it until 60k . Sparkplugs " should " last until 72k , but mine needed changing at 30k on my 172 . Sounds like you've had your ass raped mate .If you couldn't do any of the work yourself , like the plugs , discs and pads you should have taken to a local garage and saved some money .

Its 72k or 5 years I'd chnage at 60k and 4 years so an 02 plate needs it doing.
