172 speedo problem

hi does anyone know if i can convert my 172 gearbox speedo drive to an abs speedo drive?
i have a 2002 172 and the geabox went so i bought one from ebay and fitted it myself, only when going to put the speedo drive into the gearbox the drive would not fit. this was about 2 years ago and want to sort it out i really dont want to change the gearbox again so can anyone help me.

yeah it can be set up on clip mate.

hi so should just have to get an abs speedo sensor does this go back to the ecu? do u know which wheel it senses the speed from cheers

provided your car actually has ABS, no its all there, you dont need to get anything.
its not from any wheel in particular it needs all 4 sensors to calculate it

it just needs configuring on clip

my car has abs what do u mean when u say on clip? how does the abs system connect to the speedo thanks

all systems in the car are linked.
my car (well the car my wiring looms came from) was the same had abs and a speedo sensor,,
clip is renaults diagnostic computer, all you do is plug it in and configure it to take the speed signal from the abs as opposed to the speedo drive

ben you want to convert it to run off a speedo drive or the other way round.
if it has both the sensor and abs then yeah it can be configured to take the signal from either.
my setup came from a car with abs and had a speed sensor also, i removed all the wiring for the abs etc and my speedo works cooshty.
