172 starter motor

The white wire going to my starter on my 172 cup looks a bit fraid, is this wire a positive or a earth as my car still wont start??

Is your starter motor turning when you start the car?

Yes it turns over 3 times and then stops.

Bloody red immobiliser stays lit and is solid red

Obviously i have a immobiliser problem, its really getting me down now, i have tried everything to try and get the car started. Wondered if the white wire was an earth

if the imobilier light is on then thats the issue.

have you got a second key if so try that.

if neither key works then get a new decoder ring they can be problems

Thanks edde, unfortunately i have no spare key so cant try that

I have researched and read every single immobiliser thread on this forum and it seems that when the light goes solid red it isnt the decoder ring as this is sometimes an issue when the light continues to flash when the iginition if fully on

I may buy one anyway to rule out the decoder

God i so hate these trail and error problems, it costs a fortune

get a second key sorted even if thats not the issue otherwsie loose your key and your in for a big bill.

I do have a spare key but it doesnt work, put a new battery in it put the button doesnt light up the fob

It needs programming.

It will be a wiring issue rather than an immobiliser problem. Red light remains solid for looooads of reasons. Check all earths, but I'm betting a broken can bus wire somewhere.
