172 to 182

  172 clio ph1
I am converted into loving my clio. Was meant to be a stop gap while I looked for something else after selling my type R Scooby. However, I like my little car to much and with the good mpg..( although recently been giving it some here and there and now down to 26mpg average) It has great road manners and looking forward to a track day or too soon...

But my question is this... Is it financially worth me getting a 182 over my phase 1 172. I am bothered about driving and handling not looks and gadgets etc. Is the 182 enough better in driving to warrent spending the extra 2-3k on one?

Hope that makes sense. I have driven a 182 briefly and loved it but it didnt seem any quicker than the 172 I have now. My day to day use of the car is for my company car and I use it for track events when I have time and money.

thanks in advance.

dont bother then, the Ph1 172 is as quick as a 182 anyway IIRC, the 182 looks better but that would only bother me when commuting but as you dont then no problem,

I used to have a ph 1 172 and now have a 182, tbh if your not bothered about the extra's or the nicer interior then there is little difference. The driving experience is very much the same. I got rid of my 172 then missed it so bought a 182. My 182 actually feels slower than my 172 as it was cammed and the ph 1 172 is much lighter. But I prefer the 182 cos of the extras and and I've always loved racing blue.

Hope this helps.

My 182 dont feel any quicker than my old Ph2 172, both the same also handles the same, No dif what so ever apart from looks and gadgets.

Yeah for me I do think that the 182 looks nicer but not enough nicer to bother me. I have aircon and electric windows and thats about as much gadgets as I like.. :D Yes cruise control would be nice for long drives but I tend to do them in something else anyway.

Its more really the drive, hubby wants to buy me a black or the light blue 182 but I just would rather spend the extra money on a driving holiday to Monaco and a few track days. :D Although when the time comes to that I HAVE to trade up I will be looking at a newer clio or a the megane.

Ide keep the 172 if I had one. Although I drive a 182 I would'nt feel the extra money for a 182 is worth it when the cars do near the same job just as good as eachother.
