Imo it'll be a hard car to part with. I'm dreading selling, but I fancy a Mk2 (rare coloured one) for a bit:)

I can imagine, i can see it would be hard enough to deal with putting miles on it never mind part with it...?

Saying that, its a dilemma i reckon i could contend with...!

If i still lived with the folks, yours would be the first one id be after, i love the Phase 1 Vee's, best looking tbh

Only titanium on a Phase 2 for me if it had to ve

I went 172 - 182 - mk2 v6

Any short falls like luggage space is forgoten about because they are such unique cars. do it, you wont regret it.

driving experience wise the V6 is special, its not about the speed yada yada yada, its just "special" own one and live with one and you'll get where i'm coming from

Very true and if you want another Renault it's a good car but plenty of other cars out there that will give you that "special" feeling but are better imo.

I'd disagree. I'll never own a vee, but I can't think of anything as special in the same price bracket. An E46 M3 is vastly more capable and rounded, but most of the time (like the m5) it just feels like an ordinary BMW with a slightly worse ride.
The Vee never feels ordinary!

i drive regularly, the following

F355 - the "cup" of ferraris IMO
F360 - the 182 of ferraris
F430 - ok that's good
gallardo - boring and not as quick as you think
Murcielago - an experience!
AMV8 - awesome, my next car if i get rich
DB9 - boring
996 - quite V6 like
elise - i have a small penis
scoob - naff
evo - ok
997 - its got a s**t gearbox, so pass
TVR - kit car cup
R8 - awesome
caterham - awesomer
Landy 110 - more awesomer

so to conclude if i didn't have a V6, i'd have either a 430, AMV8, R8, caterham or a 110 defender!

BUT the V6 still has something special about it, all of those just don't quite "flick my bean" 100%

Great post, I really can't think of any other car I'd rather have for the money :)

  Better than yours. C*nt.

Ditto. I got rid of a stonkingly quick and awesome sounding Lotus for the Vee, and haven't looked back. The Lotus was difficult to live with, difficult to drive fast on the roads and unpredictable at best in the wet.

At least the Vee is only difficult to live with and unpredictable in the wet! :D

Do it! I did miss not having a boot or rear seats but thats partly why i got a 2nd car. no worries for you, go for it! Such brilliant cars!!

Has anyone asked if you'll be doing any track action in the v6?

I think you'll be bitterly dissapointed with the v6 on track. I havent been in one, but I've passed quite a few at the RS days - not quick :(

b****cks. They were being girls. Ali will vouch for this!

If I was to sell my M3 I would get one for a 6 months, just to own one :)

Would be a downgrade in performance by a mile but for summer fun there must be some WIN with them?

1 - Oh yes. At 24 in a nice area I'm on the sharp end of an £800 bill.
2 - It's not too bad - stop thinking of it as a Clio and more as a £30k supercar. Whilst it's pace isn't as good as a 'true' supercar, it's epic fun.
3 - Oh yes. Belt service is twice as much as the 2 litre, tyres are £200 a pop. And the fronts are NLA.

Behave its not a supercar its a Clio with a V6 engine in it...........

A supercar is a Ferrari, 911, Lambo etc.

V6's are nice Clio's but that's all they are.

:)

Hey Fletch',

Just do it, Do it.... DO IT!
The looks, the sound...

Although a VW Golf MK.3 VR6 sounds better...

It's not, but it's the cheapest car to nearly fit all the bills of a supercar by a long stretch!

Nowhere to put anything - check.
Engine in the boot - check.
RWD - check.
Stunning - check.
Good noice - check.

Only let down by it's performance to be fair! Which yes is miles off supercar performance... Although for it's age wasn't it quicker than half the 911s?!

???

Theres less than a second in it to 60 and less than 3 to a hundread...?

Faster id agree but i know what id rather...!

Every man and his dug has an M3, the majority of which i hate to say are driven by pricks! (no offence on your part its not a sweeping generalisation )

^ I love the comment that M3's are common etc, they really aren't even in London where most cars cost a lot.

The only experience ive had is at reno track days. Went from my modded 172 cup into the 255. The 255 was amazing, harder to drive but such a better experience.
I think id get a r26 id i had 13k to spend tho

I do like the R26, but won't something a little bit more dare i say it 'special'... If i had to commute in the car then i'd probably go for a R26 with a re-map mind.

Keep the 172 and get a Corvette like I'm going to do

I'm more of a euro fan when it comes to cars mate. When are you getting some American muscle then mate?

Honestly mate there 10 a penny in Glasgow/Scotland

I still like them right enough i just feel they would have been more special had every 3rd bmw not be an M3:eek:

I'm on the look out all the time but finding a good one within my budget is proving difficult. If I sold my 172 it'd be easier but I want to keep it as a 2nd car.

If you just want a weekend car have you thought about Caterhams.
