172 - Underbonnet insulation

  Clio 200 Cup
I feel dumb asking this, but I'll ask anyway.

What will happen if I remove the big black sheet of insulation attached to the underside of the bonnet?

Will heat cause the paint on the bonnet to bubble?

Is there anything wrong with doing this?

It weighs nothing dude, literally a few grams, and the only extra noise you get is a tappity sound when sat in traffic.

Id leave it on, i had a stripped track car and refitted it as was pointless taking it out.

Cheers for the reply's fellas - I actually started thinking about the melting bonnet catch one - b**tard!

I don't suppose removing it would allow the engine to run a little cooler on stinking hot days at a certain German toll road?

On a track car you'd tend to remove it as its one less thing to burn in the event of an engine fire....

Cheers
