No it is the T-Sport version, 190 odd bhp. Why do you think a 172 would beat it top end? Weight wont help you up there, displacement and horsepower is what you need, V6 anyone!

I havent watched it yet, but I think it is the same vid, is it the one where the guy i the Corolla says something like Sacre Blue! when the 172 comes steaming back!

lol thats the one! Didnt realise Toyota actually bothered making a sporty/fast corolla, even more shocking.

But you can see its all about the gears! When the corolla changes gear it drops back, then the 172 changes and he drops back, then the corolla tops out again and drops back and the 172 comes steaming through, SACRE BLUE!

He wasnt playing with it. Believe me if your up at about 80/90 MPH against a high revving car with more horsepower, you will not go past! My bros old primera Sri(modded) wasnt easy to go past when racing at top end!

Funny you should bring this up.....i just raced one of these in my Corrado Vr6....lets just say i had to slow down in 4th so that i could see him.

The 172 was f**king with him in this vid. you can clearly see when he lays off the throttle!...believe me those corrolas things are slow....0- 60 in 8.4s thats sh*t slow!

I cant see this vid as my WMP wont show it, but if its then new 190bhp T-Sport then its really no contender for the 172/CTR pack. It may have a good headline power figure, but it makes about the same torque as a Clio 16v but at even higher revs!

It should, in theory, be a fast car. But just as with the Saxo VTS at the other end of the spectrum, what it says on paper and what happens on the road are two very different things.
