172 - Why is my car's idle crap

My car runs sweet as a nut, no lack of responce anywhere and has no apparant issues.

However, after about 1 min it starts to idle like a bag of bolts on a bouncy castle.

Is this normal, are is it service time?

Mine is a bit like that too, think its a normal thing. To do with the valve timing.

is this when hot or cold mate? what do the revs hunt between?

There is nothing wrong, when the engine is cold it will idle slightly higher than warm as it runs a slightly richer fuel mix to get the engine up to optimum temp.

If you think its that bad then compare it to another Renault Sport Clio.

i find mine does with the 95 ron in it but with the good stuff from shell its better

my old Mk1 172 used to hate 95 RON, it ran like a bag of shoite when cold.

i've not tried 95 in the 182 yet though, i doubt i ever will

I find mine idles alot better when, run on high octane fuels like V-power.

Having exact same problem with my 182. It was suggested to me that I use Slick 50 Fuel Treatment and put a full tank of BP Ultimate or Shell Optimax in after adding the Slick 50. Only just got the car and have filled it up once (with standard BP Unleaded) so next time I need to fill up I'll give it a try and let you know.

I think the throttle get dirty very easy. Clean the throttle once a while. It is easy job.
