172 Wont start after motorway run

Bought a 172 last week, everything fine with it except I've been on two half hour motorway journies with it in between pottering about the local area and after the longer runs the starter motor clicks but doesn't turn over the car.

A jump start got it going the first time, a bump start the second. The battery appears to be fine as its started no trouble every other time?

Alternator?

Long run and the alternator isn't charging properly, so your battery is losing power?

Long journey would either point to starter motor being real hot and the terminals being knackered or alternator as above. If the solenoids clicking and not engaging it's probably the starter though. Get a booster on it and put a screw driver on the terminal, will probably kick it into life. It's behind the exhaust manifold

Thanks guys, having searched about from your suggestions the symptoms appear to be in line with Starter issues that others have had. So the wallet opens already...
